It’s a bit hard to write about yourself. What do other people want to know about you? How subjective is your opinion of yourself? Is it coming off the way it was intended? etc. As well as that, every experience changes who I am. What’s true one day may not be the following week. And may not have been in the past. Bearing that in mind, I’ve decided to give it a shot anyway.
First and foremost, I consider myself to be curious. I ask questions. Curiosity is what led me to understanding computers and computer programming as a kid, and what started my journey towards atheism. (Read more about my beliefs on the respective page.) I have a thirst for knowledge. I tend to remember a great deal of things from all different times and forget the simplest things. A calendar helps there. My thirst for knowledge extends into my love of teaching. To be able to share knowledge with another person, to see them understand it (and everyone learns differently) is a great experience.
I am competitive. I love the thrill of a challenge, whether it be against myself or others. I always want to improve what I do, whether it be a game or any kind of skill ranging from cooking to socialising to thinking.
I’m open-minded. But I’m also human. I don’t reject opinions and beliefs simply because they run counter to my own. I accept fair criticism not because I like being criticised but because I know I am bound to be wrong on some things. If I’m dismissive, it’s because I’ve heard the same thing over and over again.
Anyone who has never made a mistake has never tried anything new.
I am pragmatic.
I’m not in touch with popular culture.
I prefer movies and games to books.
I value friendships.
I often have good intentions.
Those who say I’m pretentious don’t know very well.
Maybe I’ll get some other people to write stuff here, since that’s all I can think of right now :P
